Town Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrade
Curry Project Management oversaw the Cloncurry Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrade, a vital project aimed at mitigating flood risks and achieving flood-free residential land within Cloncurry. The project focused on upgrading the existing drainage system to handle a 1-in-100-year rain event, replacing undersized culverts, and constructing new culverts to improve stormwater flow and reduce the risk of flooding. CPM was responsible for managing the design process, overseeing the procurement of the Principal Contract through a tender process, and acting as the superintendent throughout the project.
Key areas of responsibility included:
- Managing the upgrade of the existing drainage infrastructure to ensure it could handle significant rainfall and prevent flooding.
- Overseeing the replacement of undersized culverts and the construction of new culverts to enhance water flow capacity and prevent blockages during extreme weather events.
- Ensuring all work contributed to the overall goal of flood-free residential land within Cloncurry, enhancing community safety and resilience.
Specific Responsibilities Under the Contract
The project management team was tasked with:
- Overseeing the upgrade of the stormwater drainage system to ensure it could accommodate a 1-in-100-year rain event, protecting residential areas from flooding.
- Managing the replacement of undersized culverts to improve the flow of stormwater and prevent blockages and overflow during heavy rains.
- Supervising the construction of additional culverts where necessary to ensure that the drainage system had the capacity to handle extreme weather events and improve water management.
Procurement and Delivery
CPM managed the procurement process for the Cloncurry Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrade, ensuring that:
- A transparent and competitive tender process was conducted to select qualified contractors capable of delivering high-quality infrastructure improvements.
- CPM coordinated with local suppliers and contractors to optimise resource use, ensuring that the project was completed on time and within budget.
- Regular site visits and inspections were conducted by CPM to monitor progress, ensure compliance with safety standards, and verify the quality of work
Submissions and Compliance
CPM managed the submissions process, ensuring that:
- All necessary project documentation, including design plans, work schedules, and as-built records, were properly submitted to the relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- CPM ensured that all works met the regulatory standards required for stormwater management systems and flood mitigation projects, ensuring that the infrastructure was resilient and capable of withstanding future extreme weather events.
Contractor Coordination
The project management team ensured that the contractor:
- Installed new drainage infrastructure, meeting the design specifications to handle large-scale rainfall and ensuring that the system was capable of mitigating flood risks for residential areas.
- Replaced existing undersized culverts with appropriately sized ones and constructed new culverts in key locations to enhance stormwater flow and drainage efficiency.
- Coordinated on-site activities, including excavation, culvert installation, and drainage improvements, ensuring that all work was completed safely and efficiently.
As-Built Construction Data
CPM ensured that detailed as-built records were maintained throughout the Cloncurry Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrade. These records documented the drainage system upgrades, culvert replacements, and new construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications and project objectives. The as-built data was submitted to Cloncurry Shire Council, ensuring full transparency and adherence to the contract requirements.
Reporting and Acquittal
CPM ensured that all project reporting and acquittal processes were completed in accordance with project specifications and funding requirements:
- Monthly Progress Reports: Detailed progress reports were submitted to Cloncurry Shire Council, tracking key milestones, expenditures, and the completion of various project phases.
- Final Acquittal Report: Upon project completion, CPM submitted a final acquittal report, including evidence of completed works, as-built documentation, and final project costs.
The Cloncurry Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrade successfully improved the town’s stormwater management system, reducing flood risks for residential areas and enhancing the resilience of Cloncurry’s infrastructure against extreme weather events
